THE “IN CONSOLE” INSPECTION MODE

If you require inspections to be completed by people other than those who assemble the towers, then this can be a real issue if these towers are spread over a large number of sites. With PASMA’s Remote Inspection System this is no longer an issue, because it allows you to conduct inspections remotely by allowing dedicated inspectors (or third party contractors) to use the Inspection Management Console (IMC) to complete the inspections.

The benefits of remote inspections

The benefits of doing inspections remotely from where the towers are used has a number of major advantages.

  • It provides an effective and efficient means to separate those who assemble the towers from those that inspect their safety
  • Those that inspect tower safety need to visit sites less often and can inspect more towers in less time
  • There is a full audit trail of all towers that have been assembled and inspected
  • Inspection data can be used to ascertain which aspects of tower assembly needs attention and potentially additional training

How to conduct remote inspections

It is entirely up to you how you want to manage your remote inspections. Options include:

  • Ask your employees to inspect the towers and then use them, UNLESS they get a message through the app to say that the tower inspection has been remotely rejected
  • Ask your employees to inspect the towers and then wait until they towers have been remotely approved
  • Ask your employees to take the details of the towers only, the inspections are then done remotely and they will be informed if the tower is safe to use (via the app). For this scenario you need to set the Project to “Checklist in console”

Inspection scenarios can be configured on a project by project basis, which means that you can vary the way you want to handle things depending also which subcontractors you are using. So you could for example have:

  • A project using a subcontractor who will inspect the towers themselves, only to be approved by you
  • A project using subcontractors who’s towers will be inspected remotely by you
  • A project using (a) subcontractor(s) who will be assembling the towers and another subcontractor who will be (remotely) inspecting the towers on your behalf

To set up your account to work in this way please follow the steps below. We assume that you have already registered an account.

  1. Log into the IMC, and set up an Organisation by going to “Organisations” in the menu and then click “+ CREATE“. If you have already set up an Organisation you can skip this step.
  2. Once added, on the Organisations page click “EDIT” and then the “USERS” tab.
  3. Click “+ INVITE USERS” to add the employees who will be using the app. If you have a lot of employees, you can select “Multiple Invites” and use a CSV file to upload your employees.
  4. Create projects when required – go to Projects and click “+ CREATE
  5. Leave “App users may add sites” switched off and add the appropriate sites to the project by going to “Sites” in the menu and then click “+ CREATE
  6. In the Projects, select: “Checklist in console“.
  7. You can now also invite freelance contractors to your Projects. To invite subcontractors to projects, please read the section Inviting Subcontractors to your Projects.

Your employees, freelance contractors or subcontractors will now be able to accept the invitation to your Organisation and start adding towers to the Projects they have been invited to.

Users will not be asked to complete a checklist in the app. The checklist needs to be completed in the IMC instead. Please read the section Completing or Approving an Inspection on the Inspection Management Console for more information.
